C2PA Metadata Remover

C2PA Content Credentials can be stored as a JUMBF manifest inside an image. This tool detects and removes supported JPEG APP11 and PNG caBX credential containers while leaving the image pixels untouched.

What happens locally

A focused cleaner, not a black box.

01

JPG and PNG support

The cleaner recognizes the standard image containers commonly used for C2PA manifests in JPEG and PNG files.

02

Clear result report

After processing, the report tells you whether a Content Credentials container was detected and removed.

03

No server copy

Credential inspection and file rebuilding happen on your device, so the original file is never uploaded.

Important limit

Removing a manifest may break provenance continuity and does not remove pixel-embedded watermarks. Keep an original copy when authenticity records matter, and do not use metadata removal to make deceptive claims.

Questions & boundaries

Know exactly what the clean copy means.

File formats are messy. These answers describe the supported behavior of this version—not a promise that every trace everywhere has disappeared.

01Is C2PA the same as an AI watermark?

No. C2PA is a provenance framework that commonly stores signed claims in a file container. Pixel watermarks such as SynthID are embedded in the media itself and are different.

02Does removing C2PA change the picture?

For supported JPEG and PNG files, the credential container is removed without decoding or recompressing the image pixels.

03Can credentials come back?

Yes. Editing or exporting the cleaned image in another application can add fresh metadata or new Content Credentials.
