This check does not rely on the “local processing” badge. It observes the requests the browser actually makes while cleaning.

Open AI MetaClean, open Developer Tools with F12 (or ⌥⌘I on Mac), and select Network.

Clear existing requests, select the Fetch/XHR filter, and drop a non-sensitive test image.

Wait for the cleaning report and download the result. No request should carry the image filename or image bytes during processing.

Page assets and consented GA4 analytics may still appear; they are not image uploads. Decline optional analytics first if you want a quieter network log.

We created an 8×8 synthetic JPEG with test camera, author, date, GPS, comment, Orientation 6, and sRGB ICC data, processed it with the same browser cleaner used by the site, and compared both files. No personal photo was used.

This demonstrates the current version on this synthetic JPEG fixture. It is not a forensic guarantee for every malformed, damaged, or proprietary file.
Supported structures—and what is explicitly unsupported.
Supported now
Removes EXIF APP1, XMP APP1, IPTC APP13, COM comments, and identifiable C2PA/JUMBF APP11 series. Preserves encoded image data and ICC color profiles; keeps a minimal orientation value when needed for display.

Removes eXIf, tEXt, zTXt, iTXt, tIME, and C2PA caBX chunks. Preserves IDAT pixels, ICC/sRGB color information, transparency, and animation data.

Do not rely on this tool for these
HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, camera RAW, PDF, Office documents, audio, and video. It also cannot remove pixel-level watermarks, SynthID, visible text, or server-side platform records.
