Video Metadata Viewer & Checker for MP4 / MOV

Choose an MP4 or MOV to check supported container tags, header timestamps, and hidden padding. The read-only report also flags files that cannot be fully checked by this version.

Check your video metadata

No uploadFree · no sign-upRead only

Supported container metadata only. Rotation, color data, encoded video/audio, and codec-level supplemental data are retained. This does not remove visible or audible content, watermarks, or platform records. Encrypted, fragmented, external-media, and extra-track files are not supported.

What happens locally

A readable report, not a black box.

01

Designed for MP4 and MOV

One self-contained video at a time, up to 100 MB. Supported user-data, metadata, XMP, UUID, timestamp, track-name, compressor-name, and padding areas are inspected.

02

A scoped, read-only verdict

A clean verdict means no supported container metadata was found. Unsupported structures or extra tracks produce an incomplete-verification warning instead.

03

Private by default

Files are read in a browser worker using Mediabunny and a bounded container scanner. No video bytes are sent to a server or an AI model.

Important limit

This version supports ordinary self-contained MP4/MOV video and audio tracks. Encrypted, fragmented, external-media, unknown-structure, and extra-track files (including GPS/timed-metadata, subtitles, and timecode tracks) are rejected for cleaning. Encoded media, codec-level supplemental data, rotation, and color data are retained. This is not content redaction or a forensic guarantee.

Questions & boundaries

Know exactly what the report means.

File formats are messy. These answers describe the supported behavior of this version—not a promise that every trace everywhere has disappeared.

01Can MP4 and MOV metadata be removed without quality loss?

The cleaner does not decode or re-encode the media. It erases supported metadata areas while keeping the encoded video/audio bytes, track layout, rotation, and color data. It checks media hashes before offering a download.

02Does it remove GPS location?

Location stored inside supported user-data or metadata containers is erased. A separate GPS or timed-metadata track is not handled in this version: the tool reports the extra track and disables cleaning rather than claiming it was removed.

03Why is the cleaned video the same size?

Metadata is erased with zero-filled padding while atom sizes and media offsets stay unchanged. The old metadata bytes are overwritten, even though the total file size stays the same.

04How do I verify the downloaded file?

Download the cleaned copy, open the Video Metadata Checker, and select that downloaded file for a separate read-only scan. For critical work, also inspect it using an external tool such as ExifTool or ffprobe.

05Does it convert MOV to MP4?

No. The output keeps the detected source container, MP4 or MOV. This tool focuses on metadata removal and does not provide format conversion or video compression.
