What is a bulk metadata remover?
A bulk metadata remover cleans several files in one session instead of making you repeat the same steps for every image. AI MetaClean lets you select or drag in up to 20 JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or HEIF images at once. Each file is checked and cleaned independently, so one unsupported or damaged file does not stop the rest of the batch from being processed.
Why local batch processing matters
The images you want to clean may contain the exact information you do not want to share: GPS coordinates, camera details, dates, author names, prompts, or editing history. AI MetaClean processes supported images inside your browser. The file bytes are not uploaded to our server or sent to an AI model, and you do not need to create an account. This local approach gives you the convenience of a bulk tool without first handing the originals to an online processing service.
Metadata AI MetaClean can remove
For supported files, the cleaner removes recognized metadata containers such as EXIF and GPS data, XMP, IPTC, comments, PNG text chunks, AI prompts and workflow fields, and supported C2PA or JUMBF credential containers in JPG and PNG files. The exact result depends on the image format and on what the exporting app originally saved. The cleaning report shows the categories found and removed from each image.
How to remove metadata from multiple images
Open AI MetaClean, choose up to 20 images or drop them into the cleaner, and wait for the local cleaning reports. Each file can be up to 100 MB. When the results are ready, download files individually or choose Download all. The bulk download action starts a separate cleaned download for each image, so your browser may ask for permission to allow multiple downloads.
What stays unchanged
For JPG, PNG, and WebP in Original mode, AI MetaClean removes supported metadata without decoding and re-encoding the image. HEIC/HEIF must be decoded and exported as JPG, PNG, or WebP, so colors, fine detail, and file size can change. Your original file is never overwritten; the tool creates a new cleaned copy for download.
Important limits of metadata removal
Removing file metadata is useful, but it is not a complete anonymity guarantee. A cleaner cannot erase faces, landmarks, street signs, reflections, visible watermarks, platform records, reverse-image matches, or pixel-embedded signals such as SynthID. Private or undocumented metadata structures may also go unrecognized. Keep the original, inspect the cleaned output, and use an independent metadata viewer when the result matters.
When a bulk metadata remover is useful
Batch cleaning is especially helpful before sharing a set of event photos, publishing product images, sending property pictures, uploading AI-generated artwork, or delivering client assets. Instead of trusting every destination platform to strip the same fields, you can prepare the final files yourself and review a report for each one. AI MetaClean is free to use, requires no sign-up, and runs directly in a modern web browser.
